I couldn't help but come back to the lovely pink Snowdrop dress in Helga Isager's Neuleiden neljä vuodenaikaa book. It's such a pretty dress and looks so good in the pale pink that it's knitted from. The only thing is that I'm not really a lace person and pink is not really my color. As my little Troll princess put it "well, mom, you don't look like a girl". So I decided to start with pullovers that were more my style, until I realized that I don't have to strictly follow the pattern - I can modify it to fit my style. The result is perfect, a dark gray no frills dress for a girl who doesn't look like a girl!
The dress is knitted with two yarns combined: wool and alpaca. I was a bit afraid that it would be difficult as my previous experience with double alpaca left stitches hanging as I kept missing stitches (because I was reading and not paying attention to my knitting). This was not the case with these two yarns. Even if Alpaca1 is slippery and might be difficult to knit doubled, combining it with the rough Spinni makes the yarns stick together so knitting is easy. And the end result: not rough at all, only soft and light.
Pattern: Snowdrop dress (modified)
Yarn: Isager Spinni 180 g & Isager Alpaca1 135 g, both in colorway 4s
Needles: 5mm
This design is great as it features endless stockinette in the round, which is just the perfect knit for a period when you need to do a lot of reading. I actually thought that I had a lot more to do as I measured the dress and realized that it was time to do the finishing on the hem. I did make the eyelet row just before the hem as in the original design, that much lace even I can wear.

I don't know if I can really call my version a Snowdrop dress. I think the lace yoke is what makes the dress and it looks gorgeous in the pale pink color used in the book. But no matter what I call the dress, it's still perfect for my fall wardrobe!
