Babies, babies

One of the reason for designing Pikkutylli baby cardigan was to have something new to knit for my friends who were having babies. Well, they were not the last babies around us, so I'm glad to have a nice pattern to pick up as more friends are having babies. My original pattern was knitted using three colors. The idea was for twin girls to get matching cardigans: the other one white with marine blue stripes and pink edges, the other pink with blue stripes and white edges. Then I saw some nice Pikkutylli versions on Ravelry knitted with two colors, so as I was buying yarn for two more cardigans I decided to go with only two colors each this time.

Yarn: Drops Merino Extra Fine (pink, purple, light blue and denim blue, 50 g each)
Needles: 4 mm

I'm not a big fan of baby pastels myself, but one of these friends already had two girls who wear pink and purple all the time, so it was an obvious choice to knit something in these colors for their third girl as well. I mean, if they already have two girls, then obviously the third one is also going to be a girl, right? Well, I just learned that it doesn't work like that. It's a boy! So now I have these two cardigans for two little baby boys...

After blocking the second cardigan I also noticed that I have dropped a stitch in the back. I have no idea how I could have missed that while knitting and finishing the cardigan! So now I have a baby cardigan that's not only the wrong color, but also not gift quality. Oh well, every knitting story is not a success story.

    1. Thank you Alina! It's fast and fun to knit, and very economical as it takes almost exactly two balls of yarn so there's no need to worry about leftovers :)
